Café Crem

Art, Music and Words around The Coffee Table

Shelley in the studio with Kev, yet thousands of miles away….

Shelley gets down to it

The Blue Odyssey project continues to excite, as contributions come in from around the world.  Our Cafe Crem  comrade and  friend Shelley, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has just completed the recording of her violin part for my song “Never get to Nashville” , which will become the opening track on the CD. Shelley and I have worked together before , on the still unfinished (my fault!)  Altered Book project. You can hear the three completed tracks from that project featuring her lyrics by clicking on the players below:

Strange Costumes

Draped in Strange Feathers

Playing the Field

On Never get to Nashville, she also stars as the Delta airlines stewardess at the end of the track!

These collaborations are such fun, because I get to work with my friends, regardless of where they are in the world, and also because of the surprise factor inherent in waiting for, and receiving their contributions. In each case, I have given the musicians free rein to interpret their solos, etc, because I want a flavour of them , rather than performing something for me parrot fashion. I believe asking somebody to exactly reproduce your line flies in the face of what ‘collaboration’ truly means. This sort of project has exceeded our wildest expectations for exchanging ideas on Cafe Crem and between its members!  I await Shelley’s part with growing anticipation!

  3. Great! Oh, I finally got an answer back from Converse on the Pink Converse and Blue Converse bags. They were produced strictly for the European Market only. So, of course- my retaliation is to not purchase Converse anything ever again. I have online friend artist and they are always in a bind for certain Art supplies. Seems over there as over here, many small Art stores have gone out of business. Not do to the internet stores. As, they have explained the internet stores even though International sellers – certain Countries apparently make it nearly impossible for purchase online for products do to the GSTs and VATs.
I have seen some unbelievable D&Ts levies against products. One that sticks in my mind is $200,000 dollars for Photo posters. Icky!
It makes no sense at all. Of course Puerto Rico is one of the hardest to understand. Keep the music coming.

  5. Hi Sherrie! It should play now – bugs in the software!

It’s strange the way they change the marketing around the world, isn’t it. My biggest bugbear is different regions for dvds! Grr! Why shouldn’t I be able to play an American dvd here? (luckily I can – I bought a region free dvd player in the caribbean, so take that, thought police!)

  6. Thank-you! It is wonderful! I told my son I had downloaded your album. I have asked him to help me put it on my iphone so I can enjoy the songs. When I told him your name!, He looked at me like, “What does mean she has heard Kev Moore lyrics! It was a strange moment. It will be a couple of days. The new iPhone is out. Some people might even get theirs today. List is protected as if it were Gold in Fort Knox. I have seen a couple emails with people in distress.

Maybe you should do some music on How crazy we are with iPhones, iPods, etc.
I hope all stores have calmness tomorrow. It is always hectic in those stores.

  7. Ah, glad it worked for you Sherrie, and thanks for downloading the album! Although the bands I play for are popular in Europe (and the punk band the Gonads a little in the States) – he probably thinks I’m my namesake, who plays for Dream Theatre, or “keb’mo’ the blues singer, whose real name is also Kevin Moore – name-wise, I’m in good company!

  8. Never know with Him. He is my Son, His Brother is just like two peas in a Pod, but different Flavors. Both are tremendous in Music. Killaurin is my Keyboardest- Piano and Trombone. Brilund is the Baritone Sax Man and Bass Player. His Sax had the extra E key. I think. I twisted my arm and wrist and hand a hundred different ways to pull that key and just hear myself with a Chord- I do not correct terminology. He does not know it. I try laying in the floor too press and blow a sound through that Key. I had my own reeds.
    I miss hearing them play.

    Someday again.
