Yes, it was definitely too late, as Barbra already sat there, only a few centimeters big, looking quite lost on her gigantic throne! She was so small now, that her eyes could hardly look over the edge of the table! And what her eyes saw there on the table, were two terribly big eyes, one close to the other, which stared at her!
She needed a while to to understand that these two eyes belonged to the ugly dwarf, who had now — become a giant! Or should we say:  a giant compared to our tiny little Witch. And he was now on all fours on the table, examining the tiny Barbra with indeed much curiosity. Amused curiosity apparently….

But the truth was that Bub had simply stopped to wonder and ask, because too many weird things were happening in this strange world, and he could not see the point of asking himself questions about it. He was just there, a boy born in a bubble far away from Here and Now and actually …on a wondertable in front of a tiny little Witch.

In the meanwhile Tiwoo, the little owl, up there on her  swinging perch above the wondertable., was staring down at Bub and Barbra. She could barely suppress a giggle glancing at the tiny little Witch sitting on the gigantic throne!
Also she couldn’t help thinking, once again, and with much despair, that Barbra really had much to learn before becoming a really big Witch, as she in fact, right now, was a really tiny Witch!
On the other hand, this new situation suited Tiwoo, because as long as Barbra was that size, she  couldn’t be very dangerous to her1

But of course this whole thing didn’t suit Barbra at all and she surely couldn’t see any reason to giggle. On the one hand she was quite aware how ridiculous she must appear on the big throne, and on the other hand, she was simply terrified! And in fact, how couldn’t she be!?  She  was not silly and knew quite well that she had done wrong to the ugly dwarf, and now, she thought, he was surely about to take a cruel revenge! She had read many of these stories about  giant ogres feeding on nasty little children, and it was obvious to her that she was caught in one of those stories right now! Of course she was not really nasty, or at least one could argue the point, and she was certainly not a child, though how should that ugly giant dwarf on the table know about it!?

  1. I see what you mean about things taking very different turns as the story goes on; I wouldn’t have guessed this was going to happen! Please say that Tiwoo doesn’t try and eat Barbra!!

  2. Don’t worry, Viv! Tiwoo and Barbra are in fact a love couple, a true one… and not one of these who eat the partner… you have been too long with insects I guess! 🙂

  3. *phew!*
I was thinking of a scene in Disney’s Enchanted, which I watched on my way back from France, on the coach. The heroine Giselle sings and calls all the vermin in New York to come and tidy and clean the appartment she is staying in (much as in many Disney films) and the animals that gather are all the rats, pigeons, and other hated creatures like flies and cockroaches. When she thanks them all and is about to bid them farewell, one of the pigeons decides to snack on a nearby cockroach, one of the team of “helpers”. It made me laugh out loud, but then it was a very funny film, full of wry moments and humour that was just not terribly Disney-esque!

  4. I needed some time to understand what a “cockroach” is, and ust laugh as I found out! We are having a big problem with the internet provider right now, have been cut a long time these last days and now it is so awfully slow that we need hours to load a page. This is why I can’t look into my usual online dictionary. Very stressing!
I suppose you know that they are called “cucaracha” here. Such disgusting animals (I find…). It is a big problem here in Spain, not easy to be “safe” from them. But it was worse in Africa… it was in any villa a continuous hunt…

  5. I know from the song, La Cucuracha that Speedy gonzales sings!!
I’d recommend Enchanted as a funny romantic movie that is both satirical and sweet.
You don’t see cockroaches very often in England but many years ago I went with a friend to her laboratory so she could feed her rats(she was doing a phD in genetics) and when she went into one room, the floor moved. It was entirely paved two inches deep in cockroaches. I was truly freaked out. This was the basement of the zoology building at Liverpool University and she was furious about the infestation because it could easily ruin her whole project.
There was a fashion a couple of years ago for rich LA and NY women to have a chained live and gilded cockroach as a brooch….Guess you don’t fancy one of them, Miki?

  7. Hey would you mind letting me know which web host you’re working with? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 completely different internet browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most. Can you suggest a good internet hosting provider at a fair price? Kudos, I appreciate it! dfdbdabfkdfg
