Café Crem

Art, Music and Words around The Coffee Table

Happy Birthday Bonny!

I took the following photo some years ago inside a tree in Sherwood Forest. From what I read and see of Bonny at Cafe Crem, I think she’s a nature lover and so I send it with good wishes for a lovely day and a great year to come!

  1. I am sure that Bonny will be more than happy about your post, Viv. Yes, I believe she loves nature very much.
Your amazing photo reminds me of a photo of me inside … I don’t remember inside of what! But it was done in a very impressive Stone Park in the centre of Spain, called “La Ciudad Encantada”, The Enchanted Town. Must have been inside of a big Stone then, I guess… On the photo I look like inside Mother Earth’s Stomach!
I’ll search for the photo and post a link to it in this thread.

  2. There’s another (much less impressive) one with me inside the tree. But as I look like the living dead in it, that one stays in the album!
I did like Sherwood Forest very much. It reminded me of a place I go in dreams, The Place of the Great Trees, where ancient and enormous trees tower like Redwood size oaks and elms.
I had(and still to some extent have) a real thing about the Robin of Sherwood series run in the 80s with Michael Praed as Robin. The music was by Clannad. I can hear Kev shuddering even from here!

  4. Wow, it looks like the shrunk Miki and she had to go hide in some Emmental cheese!!
    Wonderful!

  5. Ah, well Viv – I HAVE the track by Clannad!! I have two Clannad albums, and loved the Michael Praed series, (A boyfriend of a family friend worked on the production team for it) The thing is, Clannad go to the line…Maire Brennan’s sister Enya crosses it! 😉

  6. Funny how it works, taste and all that.
I was hopelessly in love with that Robin when I was 18. The funny thing is that in later years, the guy who played the Saracen, Nasir, was much more my thing. And I didn’t realise until my daughter pointed it out, that my husband looks very like Nasir! He’s gone grey now (but then so too probably has Nasir!)and he shaved off the beard but he’s still rather like Nasir to look at.
For Robin Hood connoiseurs, that series was the epitome of Robiness! The most recent BBC series had us all screaming abuse at the TV and supporting Guy of Guisborne!

  7. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch that new thing…ugh!
Michael Praed lost any cred though when he went off to appear in some awful, asinine (is there any other kind?) American soap abomination.

  8. I left a comment here before, about taste too, and it seems to be gone!
I was saying: if I would try to hide in some Emmental cheese, I wouldn’t stay hidden for a long time… I love cheese!
And I was telling things about the Ciudad Encantada too… about the gigantic stones in shape of Giants, Supertankers, Animal Monsters,…

  9. I love cheese too!
And I agree utterly about Praed. He left to ensure he didn’t get typecaste, apparently, but he’s best remembered now for that one role because he was brilliant in it. He does a lot of voiceovers for documentaries now, and his voice is kind of dark milk chocolate…
Maybe I oughtn’t have said that

  11. Hi Viv!

Wow!! What a neat photo!!! Thank you so very much for posting this great shot. It’s beautiful. And yes, I do enjoy nature, so you’re very perceptive.

Miki, thanks for the photo follow-up to this first photo. You look really cute scrunched up in the cave!
