  1. “Slowly, steadily, I move at my own pace
    They call me flash
    But I don’t dash
Who wants to run a race?
As long as I get there,
    Why worry,
    What’s the hurry?”
    -Flash, from Fingerbobs
I am showing my age here but that really really made me laugh out loud.
In my family I am known as Guinea Pig. I don’t get called Mum when we’re out and about; I always taught my daughter to use my name since shouting Mum in a public place is counter productive and a dozen women will turn round. These days, the war cry of Guinea pig rips out across Tesco’s. I’d love to have a tortoise or two again; they’re such lovely animals and they take their own sweet time about life. Funny, and they live so long too…

  2. The tortoise in the cave is in fact our home tortoise… helps holding the curtains in place when the Andalusian wind is blowing inside our lounge…
I don;t know if you remember, but as I told the story how I found Bubble Boy back, I explained that when I lived in Germany my friends used to call me “Momo”. Momo is the heroine of a book by Michael Ende: she is an orphan, living alone in a ruin, and fighting against the Time Thefts with the help of a magical tortoise… I loved the tortoise and I loved the story!!!

  3. I didn’t know who Momo was, so that enlightens me.
I love almost all animals, with the exception of mosquitoes who I accept as food for bats, which I adore, but we had tortoises when I was a child and they sadly passed on one very cold winter.
We did have a giant African landsnail too for many years…now there was character you woulnd’t expect in a simple creature.
