  1. Contessine, how did you know I’ve alway been fond of Ladybugs??? I used to try and catch them when I was little and made little houses for them out of match boxes – the kind that slide open. Then I’d let them go the next day 😉

Thank you for your Lucky wishes and your beautiful work of art!

I feel so lucky already!!! (Your wish must be working…)

  2. They are called “Ladybugs”? What a funny name. In France we call them “coccinelles”, which sounds funny too… And do you know that we call coccinelle too the famous German car “Der VW Käfer”?!

I did the same as you with the Ladybugs and the match boxes as I was a child! But don’t ask me if I let them go the next day, I don’t remember! We were sometimes quite cruel as children with some of the little creatures… 🙂

  3. Happy to see that the Ladybirds fly rapidly and that you have already received their message of luck! I choose the ladybirds with a great number of black points (It took long time!) : in accordance with the legend, each one represents 1 year of chance you will have…

  4. I can’t help to tell that little story about my father, and anyway it is still the actual theme!
As I was a child, we were living in the Pyrenees, in a beautiful house. When my parents made a party, they used to invite a lot of people and it was great fun, and much wine and champagne were drunk… always when he was a little bit drunk my father used to go and pee on the “gazon” (the well-cared grass in the garden) and to sing the song:
    “Faire pipi sur le gazon
    pour arroser les coccinelles…
    faire pipi sur le gazon…”
I was very small but I still hear him singing this song… and I always hear it when I see Ladybugs!

  5. Contessine, what a lovely piece of art! It reminds me of the song “Ladybird” by XTC which everyone should check out. Ideally listened to in the long grass, with the summer sun high overhead….
