Coffee’ doesn’t mean coffee! ‘Coffee’ means sex!

Au Grain de Cafe {taken last night at Mont Tremblant while I was writing in my journal}
A woman’s late-night invitation to a man for a cup of coffee (typically after a date) has become code for an invitation to sex. This convention has become the subject of a great deal of comedy, and the treatments given to it in Seinfeld (in the words of George Costanza: “‘Coffee’ doesn’t mean coffee! ‘Coffee’ means sex!”) and Eddie Izzard (in Dress to Kill) are particularly noted. _ Social aspects of coffee {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_aspects_of_coffee}
Noting that coffee is the number two consumable product next to oil in the world it struck me that coffee houses, cafes, bistros, etc. around the world have, since the establishment in 1645 of the First coffeehouse in Italy, been the gathering place for people to socialize. Coffeehouses provides social members with a place to congregate, talk, write, read, entertain one another, or pass the time, whether individually or in small groups. {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffeehouse}
It is fact and conjecture that coffee has played a role in history and literature and if we were to be able to listen in on the entire wealth of conversations that took place throughout history around the world we would find the “origins” of many “proverbs and sayings.”
That is why I introduced this topic with a saying that lead to the possible origins of “Proverbs and Sayings” in this months theme.
Does this stir any ideas from anyone?~~michael

About Café Crem
Hello Boys & Girls from around the World!
Fancy a coffee with us?
Café Crem was created by Miki and Kev Moore in 2007 with the intention of gathering like-minded artists, writers and musicians together around the coffee table to discuss and share thoughts, ideas, art, etc.
This initial desire has surpassed our wildest dreams with a myriad of collaborations taking place between the various members, creating pieces of work that simply would not exist without Café Crem.
Have a wander though in our different rooms:
“Cafe Literati”, the Literary Room
“Café L’Arte”, the Art Gallery
“Ca’ Puccini”, the Music Studio
and, last but not least,
“The MiniBar”, our creative space for our kids and teens!
You are all welcome.
Contact Miki at miki@goodaboom.com if you want to participate!

Everybody has to watch Eddie Izzard in Dressed to Kill, the guy is wonderful stand-up artist!
P.s. Michael, are they somebody’s socks hanging from a line in your very atmospheric pub’s ceiling??
P.s. Michael, are they somebody’s socks hanging from a line in your very atmospheric pub’s ceiling??
I looked up and there was a note attached:”Lost & Found.” I thought it hilarious, but considering its location right next to the slopes, I am sure this line is a necessity for visitors after a cup of their “strong” java. Would make anyone forget where they are. Ha ha!!!
Thats great!
One can only await the day when they hang some poor disoriented skier up there who’s wandered off-piste!
Great photo again, Michael, and very funny with the socks!
In Germany it is the stamp collection which means sex… and generally these are men who invite the women to look at theri stamp collection after a date…
